Single-Handed Wire Wing Straightener

Reaction Sequence · Mechanism

You know what's cooler than training both arms at the same time? Training them ONE AT A TIME so you can really focus on the squeeze, spot your imbalances, and feel deeply inadequate about how much weaker your left side is. Welcome to the Cable One Arm Tricep Extension, the exercise that exposes your hidden weaknesses while building sleeve-busting arms.

Stand in front of the high cable and grab a single handle with an underhand grip — palm facing up. Pull the handle down and pin your upper arm and elbow tight against your body. Your upper arm and forearm should form an angle sharper than ninety degrees. Place your other hand on your waist and stagger your feet for balance like you're about to pose for a fitness magazine cover.

Now extend that arm straight down to your side by contracting your triceps. Exhale on the push and make sure ONLY your forearm moves — your upper arm is locked in place like it's been cemented there. Squeeze the triceps hard at full extension and hold it for a second. Really feel that horseshoe muscle pop. Then slowly return to the start position.

After you've crushed your reps on one side, switch to the other arm and do it all over again. The underhand grip shifts the emphasis slightly compared to an overhand version, hitting the medial head of the triceps a bit more directly. It's a subtle change that adds up over time. Do these regularly and you'll start noticing that your arms look just as good relaxed as they do flexed — and isn't that the ultimate goal?
