The Bicep Bungee Bonanza

Reaction Sequence · Mechanism

So you thought regular bicep curls were a good time? Wait until you add a resistance band to the mix — it's like putting a turbocharger on a bicycle, except the bicycle is your arm and the turbocharger is pure suffering. You loop a band under one foot and attach the other end to each side of an EZ bar, then grab that bar with a close, palms-up grip like you're holding the world's most stressful ice cream cone.

Here's where the genius kicks in. As you curl that bar upward, the band stretches and adds MORE resistance the higher you go. So the top of the movement — where your biceps are already screaming for mercy — becomes the hardest part. It's like the exercise is personally offended by your comfort and has decided to make an example out of you.

Keep those upper arms pinned to your sides like they're on lockdown, and only move your forearms. Squeeze at the top like you're trying to crush a walnut between your bicep and forearm, hold that contraction for a solid second, and then lower back down slowly while the band taunts you with its decreasing resistance.

This is a beginner move on paper, but the band adds a sneaky layer of brutality that'll have your biceps feeling like they've been through a negotiation with a particularly aggressive car salesman. Two thumbs up — if your arms still work after this.
