The Narrow-Stance Iron Baker's Curl
Reaction Sequence · Mechanism
Grab that barbell with both hands, palms facing up, and position them just a few inches apart — so close together it looks like your hands are on a romantic date. Stand tall, feet shoulder-width apart, head up like you just heard someone compliment your haircut, and pin those elbows to your sides. This is your launching pad.
Now curl that bar up in a semicircular motion, and here's the critical part: ONLY your forearms move. Your upper arms are locked in place like they've been cemented to your ribcage. No swinging, no cheating, no using momentum like you're trying to launch a spaceship. Just pure, honest, brutal bicep contraction.
When you reach the top and your forearms are practically hugging your biceps, SQUEEZE. Contract those guns like you're trying to crack a safe with your bare hands. Hold that peak contraction for a solid second, because your biceps need to understand who's in charge here (spoiler: it's the exercise, not you).
Then lower that bar back down with control as you inhale. Slow and steady wins the muscle-building race. Repeat for however many reps your program calls for, and then try not to drop the bar when your arms turn into overcooked noodles.
This beginner curl is deceptively simple but insanely effective for building bicep peaks that could double as ski slopes. Just don't be surprised when your arms start looking like they belong on a different, significantly more jacked person.
